The Growing Stage

Don’t mistake Bible knowledge, years of church attendance, physical age, or education for spiritual maturity. Don’t let self-centeredness or idealism distract you at this step. This is the STAGE of the path where you begin taking the initiative. As with an infant, great concern is taken to walk with, and care for, a member in the BEGINNER STAGE, because they are vulnerable. As a GROWING member, the responsibility falls on you to begin serving others faithfully.

SOME THOUGHTS AND QUESTIONS DURING THE GROWING STAGE:
  • Who are all these new people coming to our church? The church is getting too big.
  • I love my small group, don’t add any more people to it.
  • My small group is not taking care of my needs like they should.
  • I am not being fed by Clear Creek, so I am going to a church that meets my needs.
  • I know there are volunteer and service needs at Clear Creek, but I don’t have time to serve, and it seems too stressful.

WHAT NOW?  Become bold in Christ and begin forging new relationships in your church family. Don’t just expect others to reach out to you, start reaching out to others.  Introduce yourself to someone you don’t know, and learn more about them.
Begin to focus on these truths:
  • Who you are in Christ
  • How to feed yourself spiritually
  • How to have a deeper relationship with Christ
  • How to have a relationship with other believers

SUGGESTED VERSES TO READ DURING THIS STAGE:
Ephesians 4:11-12  |  Romans 12:1-2  |  2 Peter 3:18  |  Ephesians 3:16-19   |  1 Corinthians 13  |  Proverbs 14:12  |  Galatians 5:6
